Based on who YOU think it is and why. No judging, I think it would be great to have a discussion on this and it will show how broad our tastes are over different generations.

I put "producers" plural because it's hard to say just one.

For me there are many but off the top:
  • DJ Premier because of that classic style and longevity.
  • Dr. Dre for really defining the West Coast style and longevity.
  • Lord Finesse just dope.
  • Large Pro just dope.
  • DJ Slip (not much info about this guy but he had great beats with Compton's Most Wanted)
  • Havoc for creating an incredible sound with The Infamous album.

My favorite Hip Hop producers:

Diamond D,
Dr Dre,
Premier,
Pete Rock,
Erick Sermon,
Dj Muggs,
Madlib,
Dilla,
Timbaland,
Large Professor,
Showbiz,
Lord Finesse,
Pharrell Williams,
Mr Voodoo

And Im sure Im forgetting people, Im getting old.

Yeah forgot Marco Polo, 45 King, Alchemist
How the actual fuck did I forget RZA

That's a great list. Muggs was an SP1200 beast (along with all of them basically). Pete Rock was super smooth. Erick Sermon when I saw he did Da Ill Out omg:

THE 45 KING for the simple loops for the mc to flow.
DJ PREMIER for the Marley influenced beats.
SHOWBIZ been killing it but most of you wouldn't know.
THE ALCHEMIST is a beast no explanation needed.

Yea this list will be different for alot of people especially with age differences. Some people will go with hit makers some with bodies of work or styles. For me Pete rock, Premo, J dilla and the Rza were all revolutionary because they created their own sound. Premo is from texas but is considered to have streamlined the New york sound along with Pete. Rza speaks for himself he spawned so many producers it;s rididculous. Theres to many so i'll just name them. Large pro,Lord finesse, Diamond D, Havoc, erick Sermon, Madlib,Scott storch,Timbaland Kanye, DJ Quick,Alchemist, Just Blaze,9th wonder, Beatminerz, Organized Noise, Juicy J. Theres more i appreciate but this would be a general list of mine.

Yep, all these guys. 45 King always had dope shit. I remember hearing Em's "Stan" and I fucking KNEW it was 45 King.

RZA, Scratch, all those guys.

But I want to hear from the younger generation too, who you got?
