    Training Your Ears

    Training your ears is important if you want to really get good at mixing. Then you can say shit like "There's too much 8 kHz in the vocals, and they're too sibilant" and "This guitar track sounds boxy with all that 500 Hz on it." heh heh I just say that stuff anyway.

    Har-Bal

    Very handy tool. Been using harbal for a min. I to use it on individual samples like a spectrum analyzer to let me know where the samples gonna sit in a mix. Thankx for that link relic i havent read that yet.

    From the way you worded it it sounds like you should do the opposite of the first, music you never heard for the second. Depends on how bad it is shorty. This is writers block. If your really in the mood and your drums are still tight try 1. Changing the tempo to something WAY different...

    I agree completly. I was like that way back when I first got an RS7000. I was ready to return it cause I didnt want to learn (or didnt know I had to learn it...whateva). Then I studied the manual an really dug into it. Now I can make it sound like anything.

    I have the emu 0404 which i believe is lesser but this is a good card. The patch mix sofware is deff somethin 2 get used to. Once you do get used to it. try using the built in efx with your sequencer... they're tight. there should b a built in preset for cubase to. I just set it to that and left...

    do u have a keyboard controller? I use an edirol pcr-50. It has 8 knobs and 8 sliders. all programable ofcourse. I know theres a cubase set-up I can import. But I dont I rarely use the knobs or sliders. They always work for something when I move em!!! So as always it depends on preference...

    Turntable for sampling

    the only thing u should be concerned about is if you think your going to be sampling scratches. If so get with a Direct drive table. If not just get a belt drive. They usually cost less.
