Egypt...Surprised we havent spoken on it yet..

No it was not

Look at this chart

http://www.google.com/publicdata?ds=wb-wdi&met=ny_gdp_mktp_cd&idim=country:USA&dl=en&hl=en&q=us+gdp

and tell me how slavery helped with that growth.

LMAO, are you serious?
You want to debate the rise of the USA as a super power using a chart that starts at 1960, long after the USA became a superpower.
Start at the plantations, which was another century altogether.
Yes the USA did become a super power on the back on slavery, so did the UK, so did Holland, maybe France but I dont know about them, certainly the romans did it, and the egyptians too. Many nations rose to status on the back of slavery and child labour. This is historical fact, just pick up a history book. Some nationa are still doing it today. China, India, Phillipines, Romania and other eastern european countries.
How are China and India exponentially growing into "Super Powers" right now if its not on the back of cheap labour(unfair rates of pay, including child slavery). And why are these people in slavery?? to supply the vast quantities of stupid "consumer goods" to supply the demands of an ever more greedy and hard to please "capitalist" world.

ha ha ha, do you even know what adjusted for inflation means? LMAO

@2GooD Productions

In the very early stages of our country it certainly did help absolutely, but slavery ended in 1865. I mean come on, really.

Sorry, I think it is clear that what we have done for the last few hundred years has some merit. Honestly name ANY Strictly Socialist or 3rd world country where someone like Jay-Z could be born in poverty and now be a multimillionaire?

Russia, China.

LMAO, now who's dreaming?

So you mean to tell me that popular entertainers dont go from rags to riches in these countries? Thats all Jay Z has done, he later invested his money wisely and became a business man, are you telling me that people just dont do this in China and Russia?
Are you telling me that good business sense and an artist performing talent only go hand in hand in a capitalist world?
Thats a ridiculous thought.

It is incredibly difficult and highly unlikely in these countries. Not impossible, but MUCH easier in the US or Europe for that matter.

@dp: last ill say about it. Its a bubble, the whole succes does not weigh against the debt it needs to sustain in order to keep the dollar up. Let alone to have china/japan bail out on their reserve for for another currency. What up with the gold race ?? bail out. The whole succes is virtual making all the charts in the world very relative. GDP needs 1000% increase over god knows how many years to relief the debt and make a healthy treasure chest for the gov to run things on long term benefit. Why, when a country is so rich, does it have such low social arrangements, people on foodstamps, no jobs, no future etc. I could be wrong on this but Living up the american dream looks like something tied to an economic centre which holds ground for profit. i.e. if you live in LA, NYC or other big cities, then the chances are bigger to achieve profitable revenue but the last time i checked that HUGE island, it probably accounts for not even 10% of populated area in the US.

Remember, we got free media here, also cnn. You can call me as dumb as you like but im hardly misinformed. I'm also not the only one who looks at it like this, this is called a general concensus and the only typical thing about your remarks is that its always noted by a capitalist.

Now...back onto topic

Obama is about to speak!

It is incredibly difficult and highly unlikely in these countries. Not impossible, but MUCH easier in the US or Europe for that matter.

But the ease of doing it wasnt in question, you just said name any Socialist country where this can happen?
Entertaining people or good business sense are not traits solely given to westerners.
A lot of the US's "WEALTH" is a result of printing vast quatities of money into circulation for a world were its currency is THE GOTO currency to trade with.
Every dollar bill in circulation is a debt shared by every citizen of the USA.
Printing more and more money creates more and more debt owed to the holders of that paper FIAT currency. Which just happens to be probably every trading country on earth.
Its only the fact that it the most dominant trading currency in the world that keeps it afloat.
Inflation has a lot to do with your chart, inflation is the biggest factor in what values a FIAT monetary system. Paper money can become worthless, the more notes in circulation devalues the currency then you have inflation. Its okay having a squintillion dollars, but if all those dollars are only actually worth 50p sterling, then thats not much is it?

I think on that point we do agree, our debt is OUT of control. I do not believe we need this debt to sustain growth. But our government spending is out of control. And yes there are people on food stamps and government housing, but this is more proof of financial success. Every society has poverty but in the US at LEAST you can get some kind of housing and food. In 3rd world countries you starve and die.

Also it seems that our society at least in the US has this perception that the appearance of wealth is better than wealth itself. So its better to be in debt with a nice ride than living debt free and having more money. It is kind of a mink fuck here, but if no one had debt our GDP would grow even further.

Also, I am not trying to call you dumb or anything. Sorry if it came off that way.
