    Line in / Microphone in too loud when recording vinyl

    Would getting a mixer help reduce loudness? I have a Lenovo T60p. I have a Pioneer Vinyl player that goes to an pre-amp that then connects to my laptop and it's too loud. I tried reducing volume on my laptop recording but it's a no go... any ideas if getting a small mixer would help...

    Yes I think so. I'm affected by it. I sit on the computer for hours and hours. Sometimes I would like to talk to a girl that I don't know but they're on their cellphone or have their iPod on playing music. That's life I suppose.

    Is there any artists that have a similar sound to this? I don't like new hip-hop too much but this beat is the shit. I don't think it samples anything which makes it a bit amazing to me for some reason.

    Sampling - Am I doing it wrong?

    Is Ableton Lite decent? I like sampling but I'm having a hard time doing it with Reason. I use Recycle to chop a sample, import it into Apple Loops Utility to make a AIFF, then I import it into Garageband and set the tempo I want, then I export it out there and then I'm able to use it in Reason 4.0
