hahaha, c'mon guys, both of you are like brothers to me...I hate racism, its simply not a cool topic...I rank racism just above how lil wayne was biting other peoples lyrics...WACK AS HEYELL! For ALL those that NEED to talk about it, Im sure that there are some racism sites and blogs that would welcome your comments and thoughts, as of right now...ILLMUZIK doesn't support it and Im cool with that.

I agree that racism discussions add character, but it also adds hatred, heated conversations, annamosity and a list of other unfruitful things...I admit that this thread has gone well and has exceeded my expectations but there hasn't been any REAL race related issues brought up yet, its all been very general in content. But to each's own, if you cats feel its a must...go ahead and say "fugg the rules" and do your thing, just keep in mind who made the rules and why they were put in place...with that said...I could be wrong but on my computer screen I see and qoute...

No Race or Religion discussions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even though The Basement is a place to discuss anything, Race or Religion threads always end up being closed because of too many heated arguments. So from now on, those topics CANNOT be discussed here any longer, unless it's directly related to music.

Examples: Threads that are okay:
"Colin Powell is releasing a CD, and he produced all of it himself!"
"I like Christian Rap, do you guys have any favorites?"
Threads that are NOT okay:
"Bush is an ass, when will you americans learn?"
"Today I was in Church and the priest said....."
If a thread is not exactly about Race or Religion, but it ends up going in that direction, either those posts will be removed, or the thread will be closed, or those posters will be asked to get back on topic.

Everyone is still free to discuss anything they wish, except these topics. It could have easily been Sports or Fashion that was banned, but instead it's Race and Religion, because we all know that those threads never end nicely. We're trying to keep this site related to Hip-Hop Production!

Thanks for understanding.

Maybe this needs to be removed...

You make great points, but I feel as long as we can all stay mature about the topics at hand it really shouldn't cause conflict.

Stay up fam.

Amazing, never in my life have I seen a more unfunny, offensive load of bullshit. Thanks for making a dick of yourself.

Most of y'all know that Ive been away for a minute and this is late as heyell on my part but I gotta comment on this...Sincock, I'm feeling you on this one to some degree...My thing is that I hate racism with a passion...This IS a form of racism that alot of people have accepted as OK but some, like you and I just don't find it 100% amusing.

Its kinda like seeing a funny ass accident happen...I saw this dude chasing his wife in my neighborhood, they were just playing but while she was running, she was looking back at him and not in front of her...she ran into a fence that was about waste high and did a flip, landed on her back and one leg got caught on the fence...she is a very big lady too, Im guessing around 280lbs...I mean, it's not funny because she could have been seriously hurt but at the same time it's just funny as heyell to see a woman her size do that.

My first reaction was concern about her but after we saw that she was OK, we almost died laughing. Some would have laughed from the begining, some wouldn't have laughed at all. Racism can be funny if its mild and unharmful to the person offended. To others, it can be insulting and humiliating.

Once again, I understand your view on this but at the same time, others will view it differently and find it amusing. Your thought process seemed to be much deeper on this issue which made others think you're taking it too seriously. I think thats some other level bull*^it but anyway, when you take away the humorous aspect of the list, it IS racist.

You must hate Dave Chappelle. lol

DaveChappelle.jpg

Racism is here and will never go away, so the majority people who are open minded accept it for what it is and make fun of such a hateful thing.

Its not like we really think black people love chicken because their black. Fuck we all love chicken. Its just been around for so long you might as well laugh about it.

I believe the late and great Kernel Sanders said it best.

"I'm to drunk to taste this chicken"

Thanks Dac. While I never expect that everyone will agree with me I'm glad at least someone got the point of what I was going on about. (Could have expressed myself less offensively but we've already covered that ground).

I actually tried to find Dave Chapelle funny but I just couldn't get with his humor...but I dont truely hate anyone. Im sure there are alot of cats that I like and very few others do but I realise this and its cool with me. Im not gonna try to convince anyone to like something just because I do. Thats just not my steez...

In all actuality, Dave confirms what I was saying about some racism being excepted as OK, I personally choose not to. Once again, its my hate of it with a passion.

Put it like this...if some racial ish were to break out here at ILL, I would be the first to go to a neutral corner and let those concerned fight their own battle. Ignorance comes in all colors and thats not my battle. But let someone talk about my ILL fam as a whole and i will be the first to go to battle.

Racism is here and will never go away

I respectfully and totally disagree. To accept all life equally is to be devoid of racism. To attain this might seem like an impossibility though it is not. It is, however, total freedom and emancipation from our societies most destructive elements: iggnorance, envy, and hate (amongst many others).

In my humble opinion, humor of this topic is grand because it creates bridges of understanding which will one day make paradise a possibility.

the issue of racism is bummed out, cant you see that? how do you talk about sh*t and not mention that it stinks? or is everybody supposed to agree with your opinion? some of you cats kill me with the "what I say goes mentality..." In my ILLmanual theres only one person on this site that can say s.t.f.u. and it mean something.

oh this thread is halarious, whats really funny about it is the attitude of some of those pushing to discuss racism are now saying "if you don't agree with me then f*#k you or if you dont like it leave...", but quote we are mature...here's my favorite...umm don't take it so serious and feelings wont get hurt...heres my second favorite..."mr.guru says that the sky is green and then comes mr.guru's crew to make it official by cosigning with some bullsh*t....SMBAH!

I smell the coffee but its still the same day!?!?!?!?

hmmmm,

good point dac .... but

with ur post u raise the question of what exactly is racism.... if racism is having pre-conceived attitudes and conclusions about people based on your previous experiences with their race then im sorry but we are all racists. Everyone on the planet. There is no way around that. However I wouldnt call that blog or this thread racist. Prejudice yes, but everybody is prejudice in some shape or fashion, it just natural and part of our biological nature to "seperate" people into "catergories" whether their skin color is a factor or not. If someone tells me they are not prejudice at all, Then they are lying or they have there head to far up their own ass to even see whats going on. Which would make them ignorant.

Its funny how cats will shit on this thread but then go start a post about how much they hate souljah boy or something like that. Like one form of hate is somehow ok and acceptable over another. Unless you personally know somebody, its hard to make judgements on people. But we do it all the time. Skin color, what music u like, how much money u have, what neighboorhood u live in (its funny how white people cringe when i tell them i live in bedstuy, like they feel i that im living some kind of ghetto thugged out project life when my apartment is three times the size and twice as nice as their little manhattan box), religion, whatever. We all do it. Whether we even realize it or not.

that blog is actually quite accurate. thats what makes it fuuny. if it ws a bunch of racist, senseless comments than it would not be funny. But what makes it funny is the intelligence behind it. And thats what makes dave chappelle and chris rock funny too. They are able to use comedy as a vehicle to address real issues going on and social problems that we have.
I think its "ignorant" to ignore our differences and act like evrything is all good when its not. Thats not a solution, thats denial. And the first step to any problem is realizing u have one.

=)

Ash, I agree with most of what youre saying...some of the things that you said just doesnt pretain to me or the way I feel about racism...racism is what it is, Im not adding anything to its definition, nor am I taking anythiing away from it. I personally feel that there are different levels of it, some exceptable, some not, however racism is still racism whether its humorous or blatant IMO...Im not trying to convince anyone that Im right about the way I feel, Im just being me and voicing my thoughts on the issue. Alot of people use their voice in a way that it would look for acceptance from others, I dont, I say what i feel whether its accepted or not is not really a big issue to me. Some people need, look and search for conformation...I walk alone.

As for everybody being a little racist...I see where youre going with that. Its kinda like the tree that fell in the forrest making a sound or not...I agree that everyone has some racism in them, including myself but its not as much what you are as it is what you appear when it comes to racism. I could be one of the most racist people on the planet but that doesnt mean that Im gonna call or refer to anyone with a racial slur, joke or name in humor or anything else, which means that its unknown. Because I hate racism, and Im guilty of being racist (to some minor degree) doesnt classify me nor automatically make me verbal or expressive with my racism. A person only reveals his racism when he expresses it otherwise its like I said, unknown to others.

I've really been trying to stay out of this debate but I have to say something.

That's really sad that you see the world like that, and I don't mean that in a patronising way at all. Yes people look different and come from different cultures but if you can't realise that we are all individuals and each person is unique then I would question your humanity. I don't know what your life experience is but if you really think like that then I feel that you are distancing yourself from the fantastic diversity of the human race.

When I think of all the different people of different races and cultures I have known in my life the only ones I tend to lump together are the ignorant, unquestioning ones that can't see outside of their own limited paradigm and they come from all groups. Maybe I'm prejudiced against the ignorant.

When I look at the thread on Black people I don't see any similarity with any black friends or acquaintances of mine either; maybe because their life experiences and background is different from the black people that you all know. Same with the white thread; maybe it rings true to some of you but the only people that I know like that are rich hippies who, by the way, are not all white.

Instead of having pre-conceived notions of people based on your experience with those of the same race why not make an effort to change your pre-conceptions and meet and get to know people as individuals. You might be surprised.

It's too easy to just accept the dominant paradigm as being the only way of seeing the world. Open your eyes and your mind and look around.

EDIT: People have made a lot of mention of comedians such as Richard Pryor (RIP) and Dave Chappelle as being great examples of people who use racism to make humour but the work of theirs I'm familiar with is not racist. It addresses racial issues but the humour is usually directed at racists rather than at other races. The Chappelle skit that was mentioned where he's a blind, black KKK member is funny cause it shows how stupid racism is. That's how you build bridges by showing people how ridiculous their behaviour is. Humour of the "Black people do this; white people do that" variety is outdated and not edgy just ignorant.

but u classify mainstream as crap dont u.

If u actually read my post (and didnt read it from a Pre-Judging perspective HA! HA!) i didnt say anywhere that everyone of my friends relate to these posts. if u would get off ur high and holy free of sin horse for a second u would see that i was simply saying that diffrent cultures have diffrent beliefs, perspectives, and ideals on diffrent things. A muslim Iraqi is going to view another muslim Iraqi diffrent than a white American is going to view a muslim Iraqi. Bottomline. End of story. Thank you and good night. and we should not "ignore" these diffrences or act like they dont exist because that is not helping anybody. And I stated that comedy is a great medium to address these diffrences because it allows us to see how ridiculous and idiotic we as humans are for fighting over these diffrences. That was my point I dont know how u concluded what u did from that.

I was born and raised in the burbs of upstate of new york, around majority white people, then I would stay with my aunt in inner city "ghetto" detriot, poor area, all blacks.. no whites insight anywhere. I would then go to Westside Savanahh, Georgia, and live that "southern" life... again not many whites around, but totally diffrent vibe from detriot. I Currently live in Brooklyn, which is a cultural clusterfuck. Ive lived in the hood, in the burbs, and everywhere in between on the socio-economic scale. I got friends of all diffrent races, relligions, and whatever... and one thing i can tell you is that traditional values of people are different, and strong. You can speak all this heal the world stuff, and i hear you, and would like for it to be that way but it isnt. As a black man, your telling me I could marry or even date or even pursue a relationship with a hacidic jew woman?.. please ... the backlash u would receive from both the black and hacidic community would rip your realtionship apart before it even started. Now is that racism? Me personally i dont think so. Its just strong cultural value. Am I cool with everyone I meet? yes.. Do i have friends of diffrent cultures, races, religions, etc? plenty.... Do I intentionally try to cross boundaries and impose my ideals on evrybody else because i think its right ? Hell no! .... Sincock u remind me of those christian missionaries that travel to the middle east and try to convert muslims to christians and then wonder why they get shitted on. like u someohow know whats "better" for everybody or something. Just remember that ignorance runs two ways. U callin someone else ignorant because they dont share the same view as u means that u dont understand something about their train of thought or where they are coming from.
